01 · Light
Face the light.
Try a window or a soft lamp in front of you. A bright window behind you can make your face harder to see. Move the light, capture another photo, and compare.
MuteMe Meeting Tools · Camera
Look and sound ready before you join. Test your webcam, use a camera mirror, or choose camera + microphone to record your picture and voice together—all in your browser.
No account. No media uploads. Camera-only mode keeps your microphone off. Choose camera + microphone to include audio; access starts only when you press Start.
Your camera workspace
Check your actual camera image before a call. Downloads stay on your device; unsaved captures disappear when you reload or leave this page.
Choose before you start. Switching modes while a preview is running restarts the devices. For audio only, open the microphone test and recorder.
Ready when you are. Start the camera to request permission.
Brightness is an average of the whole image, not an assessment of your face or skin tone. Frame rate is reported by the camera, not a measurement of your meeting connection.
Start camera + microphone to check your input level. The live preview stays muted to prevent feedback.
RMS level in dBFS measures this browser’s audio signal relative to its digital maximum. It is not calibrated room loudness or your meeting app’s mute status.
Make it yours
Your camera may provide a different resolution. The actual result appears below the preview. Changing camera or resolution restarts the preview.
PNG photos use the camera’s actual dimensions. The grid is never saved. Keep up to 6 photos below.
Camera-only mode records silent video. Original camera orientation · Up to 2 minutes or 64 MB per clip. Only your latest clip is kept here.
00:00 / 02:00
Recording format depends on your browser. The live preview stays muted; play the saved clip to hear audio captured in camera + microphone mode.
Review before you download
Compare framing and lighting between shots. These files are held temporarily in this tab and are not uploaded by this tool.
No captures yet. Start your camera, then capture a photo or record a clip.
Use your eyes and a short test clip. A resolution number alone will not tell you whether your setup works for a conversation.
01 · Light
Try a window or a soft lamp in front of you. A bright window behind you can make your face harder to see. Move the light, capture another photo, and compare.
02 · Frame
Raise the camera toward eye level. Leave a little space above your head and check the edges of the frame for distractions. The grid helps you line up your shot.
03 · Rehearse
Record yourself turning your head and speaking a sentence in camera + microphone mode. Review the picture and voice together. Then confirm both devices inside your meeting app too.
Permission, camera selection, and what this browser test can actually tell you.
Use Camera only and choose Start camera, then allow camera access in your browser. Select a camera if you have more than one and check your framing and actual resolution. Capture a photo or record a silent test video to review the result. Choose Stop camera when you finish.
Yes. Choose Camera + microphone before pressing Start camera + microphone, then allow both permissions. Select your camera and microphone, speak normally, and record a short clip. The preview is muted so it cannot feed your voice back through the speakers; your saved clip includes microphone audio for playback and download. Use headphones, or stop your devices before playing the clip, to keep speaker audio out of another recording.
Check the camera permission in your browser’s address bar and your operating system’s privacy settings. Make sure a physical privacy shutter is open. Close other apps that may be using the camera, reconnect an external webcam, and try again. On a managed work device, your administrator may need to allow camera access. If you opened this tool inside another app, try a current browser directly.
Yes. Mirroring is on by default for the live preview. Turn it off to see the original camera orientation, which is useful for checking text or a presentation. Photos are saved in the original orientation unless you select Save photos as mirrored. Video recordings always use the original camera orientation.
The camera tool processes the stream in your browser and has no media upload step. Photos and clips remain in this tab until you delete them or leave the page. Download files you want to keep. This media behavior is separate from the website’s ordinary page requests and privacy policy.
Camera-only clips are intentionally silent. To include sound, select Camera + microphone before starting and allow microphone access. Check the selected microphone, your physical mute switch, and the live input meter, then record and play a new clip. The live preview itself is always muted. If the meter is paused, choose Resume microphone meter; a suspended meter does not necessarily mean the recording has stopped. For audio-only recordings and more detailed audio checks, use the free microphone test.
Camera + microphone mode needs both devices. Check camera and microphone permission in your browser’s site settings and your system privacy settings, and close other apps that may be using them. If you want to test just the camera, switch to Camera only and start again. This tool does not silently replace a combined recording with a camera-only one.
Resolution is the width and height of the camera image in pixels. Frame rate is the rate reported by your camera track, when available. Brightness is the average image luminance on a relative 0–100 scale; a white wall can raise the number even when your face is poorly lit. None of these is a pass/fail score or a prediction of how Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet will process your video. The linked guides explain how to configure MuteMe with each app.
Not necessarily. Meeting apps can choose another camera, change resolution, crop the frame, apply effects, or compress video. Network conditions also affect what others receive. Use this test to check your camera locally, then confirm the camera and preview in your meeting app.
On a supported browser, yes. Use Capture photo for a PNG or Record video for a short clip. The video file format is selected from formats your browser supports. Download handling depends on the browser and device; some phones open the file first so you can save it. Camera access needs a secure page and your permission.
