Home Immediate Application Crash

This article is now outdated and does not apply to our current software. This issue was resolved with version 0.8.1 of the MuteMe Client.

This super article is intended to help those windows users that are experiencing a crash of the application immediately upon launch. This impacts version 0.7.0 and the cause is still unknown and being investigated.

Issue:

We've learned that a limited number of users are experiencing an immediate crash upon startup of the application on 0.7.0. We believe that this is somehow related to a Windows update and an update of our application. We changed the way the application interfaces with the operating system to give users more control over additional microphones, this somehow caused a bug for a very limited number of users.

Solution:

We do have a resolution, that we've tried with a handful of users with success, this is not ideal and we are looking into making improvements for version 0.7.1 but in the meantime, users can follow the steps below to continue using their MuteMe.

  1. Uninstall our application by going to the Start Menu [Windows Key] and typing in "add or remove programs" and then press enter.
  2. Use the search feature to find our application in the box that says "Search this list"
  3. Type in MuteMe and press [Enter].
  4. Click on the Uninstall Button Next to MuteMe-Client and then press uninstall again.
  5. Then Navigate to:
  6. C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME HERE}\AppData\Local\
  7. Remember to replace your user name in the above location.
  8. Find any folder with the word muteme_client or muteme and delete them.
  9. Then Navigate to:
  10. C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME HERE}\AppData\Roaming\
  11. Remember to replace your user name in the above location.
  12. Do the same as before, find any folder with the word muteme_client or muteme and delete them.
  13.  Then open your browser and navigate to:

downloads.muteme.com and download and install the latest version of our application. It should now work.
