Update Preferences
Our app offers two main preferences for handling software updates:
- Automatically Download Software Updates: This is the default setting. When a new update is available, you will receive a prompt to install the update that contains a high level change log so you can see what has changed, if you close the window the update will automatically be installed when the app restarts; typically when the computer restarts.
- Install Updates Without Prompting: If enabled, this preference suppresses the update notification screen that usually displays the change log. Instead, a brief notification will appear on your screen for a few seconds, informing you that the update will be installed automatically the next time the app restarts.
How to Configure Your Update Preferences
To adjust your update settings, follow these steps:
- Open the app and navigate to General Settings.
- Select the first automatic update preference and then decide if you want suppress the more detailed notification by checking the "install updates without prompting ...." checkbox.
Note: Choosing to install updates automatically without prompts ensures that you always have the latest version without interruption, suitable for users who prefer minimal interaction. Choosing to keep the notifications is great for users that like to see what has changed and what has been added to this software.
