Choose how MuteMe handles app updates.

Open General Settings. Automatically download software updates controls automatic update checks/downloads on supported installations. Turn it off if you need to manage app versions yourself; manually check Downloads and the release notes afterward.

You do not need to rename Update.exe, remove the app or disconnect the internet. Those steps belonged to versions below 0.9.3.

When automatic downloads are enabled, Use simple notification without change log replaces the detailed release-note window with a brief downloaded-update notice. The notice explains that the update will install when the app next restarts.

Leave this option off if you prefer to review the detailed changes. Turning automatic downloads off also turns off the simple-notification preference. It does not promise to cancel an update already downloaded.

The current Linux app does not support automatic software updates; use the appropriate package from Downloads. For an organization-managed Windows installation, follow your IT team’s policy and the MSI deployment guide.

Device firmware notifications are a different setting, described in Device Preferences.
