Connect your MuteSync button to MuteMe
Remove the old MuteSync app, check the Windows USB driver if needed, then connect your button with the MuteMe app running.

Quit and remove the old MuteSync app
The old app can keep the serial connection in use and prevent MuteMe from opening the button. Note your preferred settings before removing it; they do not transfer automatically.
- Windows: quit MuteSync from its system-tray menu, then uninstall MuteSync through Windows Installed apps. Older Windows layouts use Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features.
- macOS: quit MuteSync from its menu-bar menu, then remove that application from Applications.
- Restart the computer so a lingering old process does not retain the connection.
Check the USB driver on Windows
This optional-driver step is for Windows. Do not install a Windows driver on macOS.
Look for an optional driver
Open Settings → Windows Update, check for updates, then look under Advanced options → Optional updates → Driver updates. On Windows 10 the Windows Update path begins under Update & Security.
Install the matching Silicon Labs driver
If offered, select the matching Silicon Labs, Silicon Laboratories Inc - Ports or CP210x USB to UART Bridge driver and follow Windows’ installation prompts. Restart if requested.
If no optional update appears
The driver may already be installed. If Windows still does not recognize the button, use the official Silicon Labs CP210x downloads for the appropriate Windows driver. On a managed computer, involve IT.
Install the app for your computer
Read current requirements on Downloads. Connect the button, keep MuteMe running and choose your preferences. Meeting-app sync varies by app and operating system; use the compatibility and setup guides.
If the button still does not connect
- Check both cable ends and try another known working data cable. Do not bend or force the connector.
- Try a direct computer USB port, then another port; on a laptop, test the other side when possible. A hub can introduce power or connection problems.
- On Windows, check Device Manager → Ports (COM & LPT) for CP210x USB to UART Bridge. An unknown device or warning icon can indicate a driver issue.
- Close the old MuteSync app or other software actually using this serial device, such as a serial monitor or virtual machine.
- Restart, then test on another permitted computer to help separate a computer problem from a cable or button problem.

Firmware updating is separate: read the MuteSync firmware limitation.
