Choose the setup

Two devices: the existing setup guidance supports a Mini/Original pair or combination without special multi-device firmware. Connect them to the same computer and confirm both are detected.

Three to eight devices: use a preconfigured multi-device pack or confirm the appropriate numbered firmware for each eligible device. These controls share the computer’s MuteMe state; they do not independently mute each participant’s separate microphone or computer.

Prepare devices one at a time

  1. Confirm hardware and file mapping

    Check the device model/batch and the numbered firmware files before changing firmware. Do not assume these files apply to MuteSync, Click or legacy batches. Ask support if the mapping is unclear.

  2. Enter the update mode

    Use a short, reliable data cable (the original guide recommends 3 feet or less) directly to the computer. In the current app open Tools → Manual Firmware Update*, or follow Manual Firmware Updates. The applicable bootloader appears as MuteMeBoot.

  3. Write only the matching firmware

    Follow the firmware page’s transfer instructions for your OS and write the assigned file to that device. Where instructed, use Save Link As to save directly to MuteMeBoot, particularly on macOS. Wait for the firmware process to complete before moving to the next device.

  4. Connect and verify the group

    Connect the configured devices to a suitably powered hub. Confirm every device appears and changes the same mute state in a private test meeting.

Plan the USB power

The original guide budgets up to 500 mA per device: for eight devices, plan at least 4 A total available to the device ports. Check the hub’s total and per-port specifications; a power-supply label alone does not prove that capacity reaches every port.

Use a powered hub, a stable power source, enough ports and suitable data cables. Check the complete setup under normal use before deploying it in a room.

Numbered firmware downloads

Use a different numbered file for each eligible device; do not give every device the same identifier. These are the original conference-room firmware mappings.

This is specialized multi-device firmware, not a replacement for the ordinary single-device files. If your model or batch is uncertain, confirm the correct firmware with support before proceeding.

Confirm the room behavior

Test from each control in turn and verify both the meeting app’s state and the actual audio. If devices are missing or share an unexpected identifier, record the numbered files, device models, hub and app version for support. Do not repeatedly overwrite firmware without confirming the mapping.
