Manual firmware recovery, when Support directs it

• Confirm your exact model, batch and Mini connector type. Download the matching file and read its firmware instructions first.
• For a cabled Original, use a high-quality data cable 3 feet or shorter and connect directly to the computer. Plug a Mini directly into a matching USB port.
• Confirm that this computer is allowed to write to removable USB storage. Do not erase first and discover that writing is blocked afterward.
• MuteSync firmware is not supported. Original batches 001–003 use the legacy process.

Choose erase only when Support explicitly directs it. It is not a shortcut around a permission problem. The option is available only for supported batch 004+/Mini devices with firmware that exposes it; factory firmware may offer only the regular mode.

1. Open the manual action

   In MuteMe, open Tools → Device Tools → Manual Firmware Update*. Older app versions may call the area Settings → Diagnostic Tools.

2. Read the confirmation

   Follow the confirmation and choose only the mode Support instructed. The app may offer Regular Bootloader and Erase Current Firmware, depending on the device.

3. Finish with the correct file

   Once the temporary drive appears, complete the matching instructions on the firmware page. Keep the device connected until those instructions say it is safe to restart.

The bootloader tool on the firmware page provides Connect to Device, Test LEDs and Enter Bootloader without installing the app. Use desktop Chrome or Edge, close MuteMe first so the browser can open the device, and select the matching MuteMe in the browser’s device chooser.

That tool enters the regular bootloader; it does not expose the app’s erase option. Read the batch-specific instructions on the same page before using it.
