Accueil Multiple Device Support

We’re thrilled to introduce Multi-Device Support with MuteMe software version 0.24.8 and above! This exciting feature enables up to 8 MuteMe devices to connect simultaneously, ensuring every participant in shared workspaces or conference rooms has their own dedicated mute/unmute control for a seamless and efficient meeting experience.

How Multi-Device Support Enhances Your Meetings

Managing mute/unmute functionality in shared environments, especially in conference rooms, can be chaotic. Miscommunication, accidental interruptions, and unclear audio status often disrupt the flow of meetings. Multi-Device Support solves these challenges by providing each participant with their own MuteMe device, ensuring clear, independent control over their mute/unmute status.

Note: Multi-Device Support beyond two devices is only compatible with firmware-upgraded MuteMe devices at this time. Ensure your devices are updated for optimal performance in conference room setups.

Personalized Control: Each participant gets their own device, eliminating the need for a shared mute button or relying on centralized controls.

Clear Visual Indicators: LED lighting provides immediate feedback on mute status, ensuring everyone knows whether their microphone is active or muted.

Distraction-Free Meetings: Background noise and accidental interruptions are minimized, allowing participants to focus entirely on the discussion.

Seamless Collaboration: Participants can confidently communicate, knowing they have full control of their microphone without disrupting the meeting flow.

Scalable for Any Room: Whether it’s a small team huddle or a large boardroom, Multi-Device Support scales effortlessly to accommodate up to 8 devices in a single setup.

Multi-Device Support not only improves meeting efficiency but also fosters a more inclusive and collaborative environment. Participants can manage their contributions confidently and independently, making meetings smoother and more productive.

How to Get Started

Setting up Multi-Device Support is simple and can be tailored to your specific needs. Whether you're using a mix of MuteMe Mini and Regular devices or configuring a conference room with up to 8 devices, follow these steps to get started. Please ensure you are using MuteMe software version 0.24.8 or higher to access Multi-Device Support and ensure compatibility with firmware-upgraded devices.

Combine Up to Two Devices Without Updates

If you’re only using two MuteMe devices (any combination of MuteMe Mini and Regular), no additional steps are required. Simply connect the devices to your computer or USB hub, and they will work seamlessly together without firmware updates. For larger setups, follow the instructions below.

Preparing for Multi-Device Setups (3-8 Devices)

To use more than two devices, you will need either a preconfigured pack or to update the firmware on each device. Preconfigured packs are ready to use out of the box and include the necessary firmware updates. If you are updating devices manually, follow these steps:

Step 1: Update the Firmware

  1. Download the Firmware: Visit the Firmware Updates section below to download the appropriate firmware file for each device (e.g., Device 1, Device 2, etc.).
  2. Put the Device in Bootloader Mode:
    • Disconnect the device from your computer.
    • Hold down the touch surface or button on the device while reconnecting it to your computer.
    • The device should appear as "MuteMeBoot" on your computer.
  3. Copy the Firmware File: Copy the downloaded firmware file directly to the "MuteMeBoot" USB drive. Ensure you do not save any other files on the drive.
  4. Disconnect and Reconnect: Once the file has been copied, safely eject the "MuteMeBoot" drive and disconnect the device. Reconnect the device to complete the update process.

Step 2: Connect All Devices

After updating the firmware on all devices, connect them to a powered USB hub. Ensure that the hub meets the power requirements outlined in the Power Requirements section above.

Step 3: Verify Device Connections

Open the MuteMe application on your computer to verify that all devices are recognized and functioning correctly. Each device should light up and operate independently, providing seamless mute/unmute control for every participant.

Using Preconfigured Packs

If you’re using a preconfigured pack, simply connect the devices to your powered USB hub and start using them. These packs are ready to go out of the box and require no additional setup or firmware updates.

Power Requirements

Each MuteMe device can draw up to 500mA of power via USB to support its functionality, including LED indicators and touch sensitivity. When connecting multiple devices, a standard USB port may not provide sufficient power, especially if more than one device is connected to the same hub or port.

To ensure stable and reliable performance for all connected devices, we strongly recommend using a powered USB hub. A powered hub can supply the necessary power to all devices without relying on your computer's internal USB power, which may be limited. This is especially important in conference room setups, where up to 8 devices may be connected simultaneously.

For example, if 8 devices are connected, the hub must be capable of delivering at least 4A (4000mA) of total power to accommodate the combined power requirements. Many modern powered USB hubs are designed to support such setups, but always check the specifications to ensure compatibility with your devices.

Additionally, ensure that:

  • The USB hub is connected to a stable power source.
  • The hub has enough available ports to accommodate all connected devices.
  • High-quality USB cables are used to prevent voltage drops or connectivity issues.

Using a powered hub not only ensures smooth functionality for all devices but also protects your computer's USB ports from overloading. This is a crucial step for creating a seamless and efficient conference room setup.

Preconfigured Packs

To make setup even easier, we offer preconfigured packs that come with longer cords to suit conference room layouts. These packs are ready for immediate use and optimized for seamless integration with our Multi-Device Support software.

Firmware Updates for Multi-Device Support

To enable Multi-Device Support, your devices must be updated with a special firmware designed specifically for conference room setups. This firmware allows up to 8 devices to function seamlessly in a shared workspace environment. It is not compatible with individual setups or non-conference room use cases.

Please download the appropriate firmware files below for your devices. Ensure each device is updated with its respective firmware file (e.g., Device 1, Device 2, etc.) to avoid conflicts.
