Microsoft Teams Configuration
Please be advised that this support article pertains to an earlier version of Microsoft Teams known as Teams Classic. For assistance with the updated Microsoft Teams platform, please click here. Users of Teams Classic should continue using MuteMe version 0.19.1 and refrain from upgrading until their organization transitions to the new Microsoft Teams.
This page exists to help MS Teams users configure the application correctly.
MuteMe has level 3 functionality on Windows and macOS. MuteMe controls the mute/unmute status regardless of the window being in the foreground or the background. If you are experiencing issues please use the chat feature at the bottom of the page to let our team know.
Language Settings: MS Teams sync works best in English (multi-language support coming soon). Click on the three little dots next to your profile picture or initials > Then click on settings > towards the bottom of the general pane you will see app language and keyboard language. Please make sure both are set to english.
Teams Default Microphone: Ensure the correct default microphone is selected and that MuteMs is configured to control it.
Teams Settings for Windows:
There are no application specific settings that are required for MS Teams.
Teams Settings for macOS:
Users on macOS may notice a purple dialog box that appears when they are muted. This box is somewhat annoying and cannot be disabled and only appears on the macOS version of MS Teams. If you only use MS Teams or other platforms for which we have level three integration you may opt to disable this box by removing the ability from MuteMe to disable the microphone at the OS level. To do this navigate to the microphone settings section in our MuteMe app and find the microphone you use. Then uncheck the box next to "control this microphone with MuteMe". Please note doing so will disable our ability to control that microphone at the OS level.
macOS Security & Privacy Settings (macOS only):
macOS required elevated permissions for accessibility to control Teams.
- go to Security & Privacy < Accessibility < Be sure MuteMe is selected
- go to Security & Privacy < Automation < MuteMe-Client < make sure everything under MuteMe-Client is checked
If you continue to experience problems on MacOS please see detailed article regarding accessibility settings.
MuteMe Settings :
After following the above steps please ensure that the Teams sync settings are set to level two or three to ensure proper operation. Click on App Sync Settings than use the slider to move the sync settings for zoom from level one to level two/three.
