Accueil Apple Silicon & MuteMe

If you're using a Mac with Apple silicon and seeing notifications about Intel-based apps or Rosetta, this guide will help you understand the transition and ensure you're using the best version of MuteMe for your Mac.

Good news! MuteMe already has a native Apple Silicon version available. We recommend downloading it for optimal performance and future compatibility.

About Apple Silicon & Rosetta

In 2020, Apple announced the transition from Intel processors to Apple silicon in Mac computers. To ease this transition, Apple created Rosetta 2—technology that automatically translates Intel-based apps for use with Apple silicon.

Important: Rosetta support will end in a future version of macOS. For optimal performance and future compatibility, you should update your apps to Apple silicon or Universal versions.

Check Your MuteMe Version

To check if you're using the Intel or Apple Silicon version of MuteMe:

Identifying Your MuteMe Version

  1. In Finder, navigate to your Applications folder
  2. Click on the MuteMe app to select it
  3. Press Command + I (or right-click and select Get Info)
  4. Look for the Kind field in the Info window:
Application (Intel) — Intel version, uses Rosetta
Application (Universal) — Works on both Intel and Apple Silicon
Application (Apple silicon) — Native Apple Silicon version

Get the Apple Silicon Version

If you see Application (Intel) for MuteMe, we recommend downloading our native Apple Silicon version for:

  • Better performance — Native apps run faster on Apple silicon
  • Future compatibility — No reliance on Rosetta as it gets deprecated
  • Improved battery life — Apple Silicon apps are more power efficient

What If I Keep Using the Intel Version?

Rosetta deprecation: Starting with macOS 27 (the next major macOS release), Rosetta functionality will be limited. In future macOS versions, Intel-based apps may no longer work. We strongly recommend updating to the Apple Silicon version. We will continue to support the Intel version for users who need it (for a limited time), but it may not receive new features or optimizations as the operating system evolves.
