Before you start
This support article is for Windows users who need to update the firmware on a legacy MuteMe device from batch 001–003. If you are on macOS, follow the Mac firmware update instructions instead.
The update disables the transition flash that was on by default (the slight flash when pressing and releasing the button). It can be enabled again at a later time, pending changes made to the software. The update also resolves the rolling RGB LEDs that were on — they now turn off after 10 seconds if the device is not connected with the software.
- You have a legacy MuteMe device from batch 001–003 — check the batch number on the bottom of the device.
- You have administrator rights on the PC.
- For other devices and firmware options, use the current firmware guide. Continue here only for a supported legacy batch that needs this update.
Update your firmware
- Download the basic updater tool: download the MuteMe flashing tool.
- Run the exe. A window will open asking if you want to update the firmware on your MuteMe. Press the YES button, then the firmware tool will extract and start running. You will need admin rights on the PC.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. The tool will install the required drivers and then proceed to update the firmware. Please close the application window once your device is working — otherwise, the tool will try various alternative firmware.
