Google Meet Configuration
This page has been created to assist users of Google Meet in configuring the MuteMe application correctly. Two options are available for controlling Google Meet through MuteMe: the recommended Chrome extension method and the OS-level Mute method. It is important to note that the Chrome extension method is only compatible with the Google Chrome Browser and offers two-way sync with the on-screen Google Meet Mute Button. Conversely, the OS-level Mute method does not offer this functionality and may not work correctly for some users.
Google Chrome Extension (Preferred Method)
Please update to version 0.15.2 + to use this feature.
This extension offers level three integration, allowing you to easily mute or unmute your microphone on popular platforms such as Google Meet. Plus, the virtual mute button stays in sync with all other methods of muting, so you can trust that your mute status is accurate across the board. Simply download the free MuteMe extension to get started. However, please note that this extension currently only works with one Chrome profile and may not work across multiple profiles. This extension also still requires our macOS or Windows MuteMe application.

OS Level Mute Option (Alternate Method)
MuteMe has native functionality (equivalent to level 2) on Google Meet while using Chrome. Google Chrome while using Google Meet detects the OS mute status so as long as the microphone is being muted our application and button will be able to control Google Meet. MuteMe controls the mute/unmute status regardless of the window being in the foreground or the background. If you are experiencing issues please use the chat feature at the bottom of the page to let our team know.
Unique Icon When Muted : Google Meet does not show the normal mute icon when you are muted using MuteMe. The icon when muted will appear with an exclamation point letting you know that the microphone is muted from a different source rather than the on screen button. For the users on the other end of the call however they will see a regular mute icon just as if you had pressed the button.
Feedback/Echo/Other Noise: Google meet may have a noise cancelation setting that may be causing feedback or other issues when used in conjunction with your MuteMe. We recommend disabling this feature if it is causing distortion or feedback issues. To disable: start a Google Meet call; click on the three little dots next to the end call button; click on settings; then go to the "Audio" tab; below your microphone, you should see "Noise Cancellation", make sure that checkbox is to the left (disabled). You may or may not see this setting it is dependent on your headset and microphone connected.
Google Meet Default Microphone: Ensure the correct default microphone is selected and that MuteMs is configured to control it.
Google Meet Settings for Windows:
There are no application specific settings that are required for Meet.
Google Meet Settings for macOS:
There are no application specific settings that are required for Meet.
MuteMe Settings :
As long as the microphone that you have selected to control is the same as the microphone that you have selected in Google Meet the MuteMe should be able to control the microphone.
