Does it control the microphone or the camera?

MuteMe Original controls microphone mute and unmute. It has one touch-sensitive surface; it does not have camera controls or additional action buttons. For dedicated camera control and two mappable buttons, explore the upcoming MuteMe Click.

Do I need software or extra drivers?

The MuteMe app is required. Original is a USB HID device and does not require a separate device driver. Setup and app permissions vary by operating system. On a work-managed computer, check your company’s app installation policy.

Will the mute button in my meeting app stay in sync?

MuteMe offers different sync levels, from controlling your system microphone to keeping supported meeting controls in sync. The level available depends on your operating system, meeting application and settings.

Microsoft Teams has its own integration setup. Check the Teams setup guide and the compatibility matrix for your combination.

Can I choose different colors, or turn the light off?

Yes. Choose from the app’s preset palette for muted and live states, and set separate lighting outside meetings. White, red, green, yellow, blue, purple, cyan and Off are available. Brightness and pulse options let you adjust the effect; Off means no illumination.

What about ChromeOS and Linux?

ChromeOS is not currently supported. The existing Linux support is limited to Ubuntu and OS-level microphone mute. Windows and macOS provide the main MuteMe experience; review the downloads and compatibility information before choosing a device for your setup.

Wonder if you’re muted or not? Hard to miss the light. I didn’t say red light, because you can decide what it should be. If you want red to mean ‘on air’ you can do that. If you want it to mean ‘muted’, your choice.

So much easier to hit a big button then find the mouse, see where the heck the pointer is on the screen and locate the darn mute/unmute button on the screen. Simple, but effective.

With the visual color cue, I never talk when muted and, more importantly, never accidentally talk when I'm NOT muted. When I have many overlapping apps open on my desktop and have to deal with three or four different meeting apps throughout the day, the MuteMe button saves a lot of context switching. It is always accessible without searching and clearly reminds me of the mic state. I have reversed the colours to the more traditional RED for a live mic (danger of unwanted sound) and GREEN for safely offline.

I really like the momentary push-to-talk function and I use it several times daily. I actually have it sitting on the floor and I use my toe to push-to-talk. What would be really cool is if you had a fairly heavy duty mechanical USB footswitch available.

Because the work laptop prohibits ext USB devices I can't perform the firmware upgrades but that's the only issue at the moment. It's useful as a toggle button, but it has failed as a visual indicator of my Zoom mute status. The MuteMe button does not sync reliably with Zoom's mute status. Nearly 100 percent of the time, Zoom meetings start with my audio source muted -- but the MuteMe will always display "green" (unmuted) at that time.
